Mad Part 18 (Kaye - Jupiter Sunrise)

Alice (who used the screen name of Kaye) has a chat with the Caterpillar. It turns out to be a bad thing.

Well after a long wait I have finally got the 18th part of Mad out. It took awhile because of the dubbing, but it turned out really well, especially since the three camera angles are from different nights. Unfortunately YouTube has the audio off again, so it doesn't look as good on the internet as it does on my computer, but I am tired of working on it. Enjoy!

The song is Kaye by Jupiter Sunrise

p.s. if you want a better quality video (and one where the sound is synced correctly) let me know and I will post the video on my website.

More computers = less posts?

So why such a shortage of posts lately? Well ironically the answer is because I got a new laptop, with wireless internet. So why does this extra access to the internet lead to less posts? Well because there is so many games to play if you have an up-to-date computer. So alot of my free time lately has been spent playing SimCity 4, Civ 4, and Dawn of War as well as other games. And it is quite fun.

In case you missed this:

He defiantly gets the "best tantrum" award for the year. Maybe he should just play some video games or listen to some music.

100oz.

I have been pretty busy over the last couple of days. It's a good kind of busy not an "I have a crapload of homework to do kinda of busy". Newgen has been down for the last couple of days and we have been doing alot of things. Most recently having a LAN party and drinking huge slushies.

I'll get the next part of Mad out in a couple of days. It is the Caterpillar and I am dubbing music over it again and piecing together the three nights footage. So it'll take awhile.

In any case I have to eat some lunch, I'll have more updates later.

How Life came to be.

While there are many questions out there, one that many people have asked is "How did Life come to be on this planet?" In this post I will tell you how this miraculous thing happened.

It all started back in 1967 when Bob Dovaney was playing checkers. He was having a rife good time and wanted to have the same kind of fun in his mouth. He turned to Tomas (his son, and opponent) and said "You know Tom-o" (for that is what Mr. Dovaney called his son) "I wish there was a way to pack all the fun that we are having in this here checkers game into my mouth."
Tomas looked up as he jumped a piece "Well you work at General Mills, why don't you make a cereal that is this much fun?"
"T to the Omas" (Which was the other name that Mr. Dovaney called his son.) "I just might do that." And he got up and went to work designing the cereal.
Many moons later during the spring of 1968 (the year that saw the birth of headbands, arm hair, and the crazy dance they called the 'Lobster') Mr. Dovaney unveiled his new cereal to General Mills. He called it Check-Squares and they were squares of wheat with a checkered pattern. Everyone down at the office just loved Check-Squares, and liked the name even more. Everyone was like "Dude, I just got some arm hair, and man these Check-Squares go great with them! Check Square!" Now this last interjection of "Check Square!" may seem out of place, but in fact it wasn't, because the fellows down at the GM plant liked the cereal so much that they made a dance up for it every time they ate the cereal.
But all was not good for Mr. Dovaney for you see Tom (which Mr. Dovaney never called his son) soon discovered a enthralling new game called Life. And soon Tomas introduced it to his unsuspecting father. After just one use of the new game Life Mr. Dovaney was hooked, he couldn't stop playing it. As the weeks progressed Mr. Dovaney fell into a downward spiral of playing Life. Often times during work he would run off to the bathroom to get in a quick game. Soon is marriage was suffering.
Finally, the night before the public release of the smashing new cereal, Check-Squares, Mr. Dovaney was visited by the Ghost of Cereal Future and told him to re-name Check-Squares after what his vice was, Life. So the next morning he ran straight off to work and informed the company of the name change to Life Cereal.
Many people claim that Mr. Dovaney went crazy after that, but this is just not true, because in all reality he went crazy way before this. He actually didn't have a son named Tomas (his name was really Tommy), he hadn't play checkers with him (it was chess), and as you already know there isn't a dance called the Lobster (it is actually called the 'Funky Crab'). He received counseling over the summer of 1970 to fix his dementia. But to this day there is one thing that Mr. Dovaney was truly crazy about: Life Cereal.

And that is how Life (the cereal) come to be on this planet.

I know all.* (*For a limited time only)

I will answer (in detail) the first question that somebody leaves me. If I don't know the answer I will make one up.

LightBolt

During the many a hours of waiting for things to install/uninstall on the the new lappys I threw together a processing program called LightBolt. The program simply makes a drawing that looks somewhat like lightning bolts. After it gets done with one picture it'll wait about 10 seconds and start another one. The program does run into a null pointer every once in a while, so if it stops on a picture for about 30 seconds you might have to reload the program for it to run again. Even though it is simple I still really like how this one turned out, check it out here.
See more of my projects here.

Mad Part 14 (One - Anything But Joey)

Alice "enjoys" a nice tea party with the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse.

This clip took me forever to make, then it took forever to export it to a size that YouTube could handle, then YouTube got the audio off so it doesn't look right (grumble grumble). It's not like it is the best clip ever (there are a couple of time-continuum jumps in there, and I can't figure out the double audio at the beginning of the clip), but YouTube shifted the audio like half a second off which is very noticeable. Grrrr.
But really the Mad Hatter and the March Hare really did a good job with this song. They rock.

The song is One by Anything But Joey.

If you want the high quality clip I can send it to you, just let me know. (It even has actions matching the sounds!)

From WebStoop's ashes comes OokamiSnow.com

Well I finally chucked the log (as they say in Scotland), I got myself a proper website. WebStoop gave me a taste for web space that was free of ads, but unfortunately their two day life was not enough to quench my thirst for web freedom. So I give to you:

(duhn duhn DUHN duhn!)

OokamiSnow.com

(da DAAAAA!)

I will post all my stuff that I do over there (such as ColorSqur and CuttingEdge from previous posts), but I will still use Blogger to host my blog (for now).

In other news my apartment is now full of wireless internet waves (ready for a new lappy...) And the sport called Hurling is down right deadly (it is soccer and baseball cross).

Delay

Webstoop is down, so I can't post my processing programs.
Mad Part 14 is taking forever to get posted since I am trying to dub the music and combine footage from all three nights into the one clip.
And, dang it, who stole the cookie form the cookie jar?

CuttingEdge

CuttingEdge is a Processing program that I made that draws flower like shapes somewhat randomly. The program will start automatically and will stop when it feels like it is done. After it stops on the drawing it will wait for a couple of seconds and then start again. If you click on the picture it will start drawing lines to that spot with a new color. Check it out.

You can see more of my Processing stuff here.

UPDATE: You can check this program out here. And I now have a new web page here.

My New Web Page (It's so cute... er...manly)

Today I have been working hard to get a new website up so that I can have all the projects that I complete online. (And without ads!) I have posted all of my Processing programs on the site, so if you need something to take your mind off of what it should be doing (i.e. work) you should check out the site here.

The site is hosted by WebStoop, which is giving people 1Gig worth of web space to upload files for personal pages. If you need a place to build your own webpage, WebStoop is the proverbial "man".

And since I have a new website, I decided to release a new program that I made a couple of days ago. ColorSqur is a Processing program that draws images like the one to the left. The program will start automatically and will continue to draw its picture until it is done. After it is done with a certain picture it will pause for about ten seconds and then start drawing a new picture. You don't need to do a thing except to sit back and enjoy it. Check it out

I also watched Primer, it is a very good movie. If you are in the mood for a good thinking movie check it out.

On X-Men, Hockey, and Diggnation.

They used to title books like that... "On the health benefits of lead" or "On things for a boy to do that is really cool, but enviably, will blow one of his fingers off". They don't really title books like that it anymore. Why?

Ok first up, X-Men III. This movie is a fair movie, nothing too special; I'm not really going to get in to the story or anything. If you like that kind of movie you will like it, if not you probably won't. But the one thing I did want to mention is that if you were a mutant I bet it would cost alot to get insurance on your house. And I would bet that life insurance is just out of the question.

Before and after the movie I watched the first game of the Stanley Cup finals over at Aarons. (He had it Tivoed so that we could come back to it after the movie.) It was one of the better games of hockey that I have seen. Carolina ended up winning it 5-4 with less than a minute to go in the game. If you get OLN it is worth watching the next game on Wednesday, it looks like this will be a good series.

Finally, I have wanted to mention Diggnation for a while now, but the topic has never came up (It's not your fault, it's mine. Now don't give me those pouty eyes, I already said it was my fault). Diggnation is what Kevin Rose and Alex Albright moved onto after they left G4 (curse be upon that name). Once a week they put out a video podcast about the most dugg stories on Digg. And let me tell you, it is the funniest thing you will watch on a Thursday morning. Alex is a improv comedian and Kevin is just naturally funny and when they get together they always make me laugh. A warning though if you do not much about computers you may not get all the jokes, but it is still worth the look. Check them out.

Fire^Pit

This weekend I helped Nicole's mom make a new patio in her backyard so that she had a nice place to put her new fire pit table and chairs. (Nicole, Jayme, and Jayme's husband Jerry also helped.)

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that if you have a backyard, yes, you do need a fire pit. It is awesome. (More evidence Yet more evidence)

Moctor to the rescue!

Nicole drew this awesome Moctor for me. And now he can help out Moral Turpitude. (She doesn't look too sure of the Moctor's competency.)

What is a Moctor you ask?

Pizza is used as hangover remedy in Algeria by their highly trained legion of monkey-doctors, or "Moctors" they liked to be called.
They work for surprisingly few bananas, and seem to not mind checking their patients for fleas.
The Algerian government views the Moctors willingness to fill in for regular doctors, who are in short supply, as a win-win situation for their citizens. I would have to agree.

ColoradoSky

ColoradoSky is a variation of PaintDrop (my post about it) that I did. The program draws a random Colorado-like skyline with results such as the one above. It is neat to watch the picture change, the above skyline changed into these within a couple of minutes:

Like with PaintDrop if you click on the picture it will clear and start drawing a new skyline.
I hope you enjoy the program.

(p.s. sorry for the ads, it was the only place that I could find to hold to programs for free. If you know of another place let me know... and Geocities, Google Pages, and Tripod don't work for this.)

PaintDrop

One of my goals this summer is to learn the programming language Processing. So a good portion of my time so far this summer has been spent on learning the ins and outs of the language. (In case you want to know it is sort of like a combination of C+, and the statistical programming language of R.)

Anyways, PaintDrop is the first program that I really like that I have done. It generates pictures like the one above. You can check it out here. (While running the program you can click on the picture to have it start making a new one.)
Rock on.
