They are radical extre...Now I'm no friend of PETa. They are radical extremists that should take a few lessons from MLK. However, I do agree with some of their basic principles (i.e. that we should treat animals with respect and kindness). They do not compare eating animals to slavery (at least not in the quote you put up) but the treatment of animals (particularly those used for food) to that of slavery. While humans are certainly more sentient than animals, the abuse of animals without purpose is as wrong as the abuse of humans. No creature deserves to be hurt. Food animals should fall under the same restrictions of housing and care as research animals. They can feel the pain and it should be minimized.
