Long hair and stunning good looks will do that

Problems for Daily Piglet's kid reminded me of a story about my past that I chortle to myself about:

When I was growing up I would get called a girl a fair amount of times.

My favorite time was when I came up to a men's retreat with our church, and other churches in the area. I came in later in the morning, during a talk one of the guys from another church was giving. There was only about 40 of us in the room, and at the end of his talk he said something to the effect of "and that is something every guy, or girl -motioning to me, could be proud of." In his defense I did have long hair at the time. But common it was a men's retreat, for guys, I had to be pretty convincing as a girl for him to ignore that fact.

Afterward at lunch he apologized a bunch.

I never knew you were mistaken for a girl, let alone many times. You'll have to tell me more. Mom

Not really much to it. Read Daily Piglet's post that I linked to, it was always something like that.

I decided to grow my hair long for the 1st time in my life this past year. I've been referred to as madam or miss a couple of times from behind until they see my beard. I find it a bit amusing.

When I was in Scotland at 5 years old, my hair was really short and everyone kept calling me "laddie". I was wearing a skirt even... but of course in Scotland that doesn't mean anything.

I've been mistaken for a guy a lot lately... of course it could have something to do with the fact my hair was about 2" long the last time I got it cut.

I'm growing it out again. That is, until it drives me nuts because its curly and doing its own thing again... but someday I'll be able to put it up in a ponytail once more... and hopefully not be mistaken for a guy.

@Earl - The thing I can't stand about long hair is how long it takes to dry after a shower.

@Braveharte - Yeah I have heard that those Scottish boys like the skirts. :)

@Hockeyfrog - I didn't know you got it cut that short.

@ Dialypiglet - By then I was used to getting called a girl, so I didn't surprise me that much, however I felt the situation surrounding it was quite odd.
