Plastic Cups.

My semi-open letter to Panera (I typed it into a survey thingy for them already):

My big problem is that the soda cups that you use now are the clear plastic types. My normal lunch ritual is to soda during lunch and then on my way out grab a cup of coffee in the same cup. This may or may not be "allowed" -but the fact is I do it and that is one of the reasons why we choose to eat at Panera for lunch, especially when it is cold outside (my office seems to think that ice is the best room temperature setting.) Now that you have clear plastic cups that are not suitable for coffee I can not do this. This will cause me to think twice about eating at Panera since one of the things that I enjoyed about the experience is now not possible. When we do eat there I will just get water now since I am not a Pepsi fan, and I only could justify the purchase of a soda because of the coffee afterward.

very cool, i'm a fan of multi-functional things too.

i would suggest bringing your own cup but i'm certain you've already thought of that and determined that it wouldn't be in your best interest.

@Spinning Girl - I know. I have seen their mom sleeping around too.

@dailypiglet - Bringing my own cup to a restaurant seems a bit creepy. It is ok for a gas station, but I don't know about a restaurant. However, if it was a royal stein that I *must* drink out of because of my royal status, that would be a different matter. Hummm... ideas...

I had the same thought myslef the last time I walked into panera (about 2 days ago) and discovered the plastic cup. My first words to chris was, do you think I should write a letter?

Do the survey thing on the internet there is a place to enter in your comments, and even request a call from a manager about it.

I know this is an old post by now, but it raises and interesting point about one of my favorite places to eat too, especially breakfast -- Panera. Though I like the food there and the general atmosphere, I go there primarily to unwind and eat pecan rolls after a very long 12-hr. night shift. Unfortunately they play classical music. What a downer -- for breakfast?? I called the local manager to ask what's up with that and they said they go with whatever corporate says they should go for. Message to Panera -- play some wake up music or turn it off. Take a lesson from Chipotle and have a little creativity and play whatever the local store wants to play. Anything but classical first thing in the morning.

I like the classical music, I don't really think it is a place to go to get pumped for the day.
