Backpfeifengesicht

I don't hide the fact that I do not like Owen Wilson. If he is in a movie I will go out of my way to not see it. Sort of like Keanu Reeves, the presence of the actor just changes my ability to enjoy a movie. However, unlike Keanu it isn't his acting that I have a problem with, it is Owen Wilson's face.

For some reason I really can not stand the way he looks, it just drives me crazy. I am sure that it is just his zany nose pose, but it is almost painful for me to watch him. Fortunately for me the Germans have a name for this sort of face: Backpfeifengesicht, meaning a face badly in need of a fist.

I am glad that a whole culture can sum up my feeling of an actor with one extra long word. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that it was the Germans though...

(I did like the move Armageddon though... maybe I was naive then.)
(Oh, also, these guys make me want to go backpfeifengesicht on their face as well.)

He doesn't bother me as much as he obviously bothers you. However, I've never found him particularly enjoyable to watch, either. He muggs too much. And his brother bugs me, as well. His whole "aw shucks" performances in EVERY SINGLE FILM is tiresome. The only actor who has ever been able to get away with that is Jimmy Stewart, IMO.

I think I need a t-shirt with that word on it. Not for Owen Wilson though. As much as his schtick is getting tired, I still dig him in The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander and Wedding Crashers. Everything else can go away with a whimper. But those three? Classics!

PS - Bottle Rocket is pretty close too.

He broke his nose playing football when he was younger. I'm kind of shocked he never it fixed, but at the same time, it makes him stand out from plastic perfect Hollywood.

Callie: I agree, it is that "Aw shucks" thing that drives me up the wall.

Earl: Zoolander is the first time that I decided that I didn't like him. Although now I actually don't mind Zoolander that much.

hockeyfrog: It does make him stand out, although I think it is much more than just his nose that annoys me.

It's funny, about the truck balls. That is one of the very few things that you mention when you see it that you can't stand. And I know there are other things you can't stand either.

It's the nose that bothers me. Well, that AND the FAILED suicide attempt. FIX THAT CROOKED SNOUT !

I like him. I think he is funny and though his nose is not typical hollywood, he'd be just like any other actor if it was fixed. I don't think him or his brother are the best looking guys on the planet but they are definately not the worst either. And they both make me laugh. what's better than that?

I don't mind Owen Wilson's face. He is pleasantly ugly I would say. I don't like guys that are too pretty.
Someone's face I would vote for a fist is Russell Brand. Can't stand the tosser.

i share this distaste for the man's face situation, even though i feel guilty about it.

and the truck thing? just looks painful.

Nicole - But not much that pisses me off as much as truck balls.

Dr Zibbs - Thanks, someone has to tell the world about these things :)

Heff - The pressure from being Zoolander was too much.

Irene - The more I think about it the more I realize that I don't like him is because of the face poses he does.

James - I haven't payed any attention to Russel Brand... but he kinda looks like a pirate.

piglet - You can have dislike for a feature, but still be ok with the person... so don't feel guilty about that.
