Jones Soda Holiday Pack review 2006
Once again I decided to subject my family to the greatness that is the Jones Soda Holiday Pack. Luckily for them this year Jones made a desert pack, so we got to try sodas like Apple Pie instead of Brussels Sprout like last year.
I had also picked up a couple of Haloween sodas from this year as well.
I did record a video for each one, but since most of the sodas weren't revolting the initial reactions weren't all that great. It took me until the last three soda samples to realize that all of the good stuff is happening about 10-15 seconds after the initial taste, so I started to record for longer amounts of time. So this is all I have to give you.
First up is Apple Pie Soda.

Best line: "This is so disgustin..., why do we do this?" -Maria
Next we had Cherry Pie Soda.

What to look for: Everyone is saying how it isn't that bad as they pour it out.
The last soda of the night (and I am reallying kicking myself for not filming longer sooner) was Key Lime Pie soda:

Intresting note: Jayme claims that she could drink more than a sip of this one, but never does.
Ok, finally since we had a lot of soda leftover I mixed small amounts of all eight sodas together and gave it a taste:

No really somehow all of the flavors canceled each other out and made "No Taste Soda".
Ok so here is a recap of how I liked each soda this year:
1. Creepy Cranberry Soda (Halloween)
2. Key Lime Pie Soda
3. All of them mixed together
4. Cherry Pie Soda
5. Banana Cream Pie Soda
6. Monster Mojo Soda (Halloween)
7. Blueberry Pie Soda
8. Lemon Drop Dead Soda (Halloween)
9. Apple Pie Soda
And if you really want to have some fun check out the taste tests from last year (gotta love Turkey and Gravy soda).

Chicken Noodle Soup with a Square Dance on the Side
I don't know but I feel really stuck. On one hand there is Chicken Noodle Soup:
And on the other is a Christmas Square Dance in Japan:
And both of them really rock.

I am glad the week is half way over.
All it seems like I do lately is school work or hockey work. Thats not true. I have been doing many other things, but it does feel like I am busy all the time.
This weekend's hockey in Saint Louis fared about as well at K-State's football effort in Lawrence.
In better news there are only two days this week, since K-State gets off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving! woot.
So I only have one class left to teach, one class left to take, one set of notes to make, and one homework to do before the break.
(Nicole talks more about hockey, and this picture over on her blog)
p.s. Panic! At The Disco is pretty good.

pssssst!
Hey you, yeah you, do you want to buy a video?
Maybe one with very unlikely things happening?
1 In A Million Moments - video powered by Metacafe
Or how about stacking dice?
Not impressed? How about one featuring the worst burglar ever?
I thought you'd like that one.

Andy, Texas, Curry
Well in case you missed it this weekend was pretty good, so if you skipped it using your stasis chamber because you don't like Saturday or Sunday, man, I be you will be kicking yourself after you read this post. Here is three reasons why this weekend was better than, say, Monday.
1. Andy came up. Thats right Andy-man himself came up to Manhattan to rock it Eastern Kansas style.
Here we (well Aaron, Andy and Nicole) are before the start of the Texas game. We got there a couple of hours early, and it was a good thing because the student section filled up pretty quickly.
2. K-State beats Texas. It's not like people didn't like Coach Prince before, but after this game I am sure that they all will love him.
This is the only picture I got during the game. This play actually turned out to be a touchdown for the Wildcats.
This is what it was like after the game was over:
Here is the crowd pouring onto the field from the other side of the stadium. It's a better video than mine.
After the game the field was packed with people, you can't really tell from the crow in this picture, but if you look at the Jumbotron you can see how many people are on the field.
The Collegian probably has the best picture of the night:
3. Indian food night. Raj bought Nicole and I tickets to the Indian food buffet thing that the Indian Student Alliance (or something like that) does every year. This year I enjoyed the food much more.
The veggie ball on the top left of the plate was good, and also the fried thingy that you can't really see because it is covered by the half circle chippy thing was really good when dipped in the yogurt sauce, which is in the bottom right of the plate.
Rock rock on.

Play Civ? Go on a diet!
Since it is getting to be around Christmas time I have been working on updating my Amazon Wishlist. One of the best ways to find new things to want is to look through their recommendations. After digging through a bunch of suggestions I came across this one:
Notice anything that they are implying about Civ 3 players... possibly that they are fat? How stereotypical. (But really their recommendations are based on algorithms, so there must be enough Civ 3 players that buy the fat monitor to figure that it is common enough trend to recommended it for everyone.)
I think I'll pass on it though.

Hockey, get your hockey!
Get your ice cold, a couple days old, full stream of all NHL games, straight from Google. And get it while the price is right; free. So if you like the hockey, and you don't mind watching the games a couple of days late, then you can check them all out in the new NHL section of Google videos.
It is a good idea, I just wish the games were updated a little sooner. But since I get no hockey whatsoever on my TV I can't really complain that much.

King Oil and the Sugar Creek Gang
I don't want many things from my childhood, mainly because I still have them all. But there are two things that I always keep an eye out for.
The first is a board game that my Grandpa (in Denver) has called King Oil. This game is what really got me into liking board games. The game is played by randomizing the oil field, and then you buy land and drill in your land to find oil. The game goes on until you break the other players or all the oil wells are drilled. I always wanted to play that game with my Grandpa when I went to visit him (and still do). Luckily he still has it all in one piece, so hopefully someday I will have it. (Really, out of everything that my grandparents in Denver have, I would be happy with just their board games...well and the next item.)
The other thing that I would really like to have is a copy of the series of books called the Sugar Creek Gang. These books are about a group of kids (all boys?) that have more than their fair share of adventures. My dad read all of the books to me as bed time story over what I would guess was couple of years. I think he read them to all of us kids, but after we grew up we passed them on to our cousins, so I have no idea of where the copy of the series that we had is now. I don't have kids of my own now, but when I do I am going to get these books to read to them.
*Side note on the books: When I was on a fishing trip in Colorado with my dad and my uncle Randy we tipped the canoe in the middle of a lake due to a very strong whirlwind, as I was flying out of the canoe an image of one of the Sugar creek book covers flashed in my head:
Now that cover is all I can remember of that incident.*
p.s. It looks like the Sugar Creek Gang is now a video series too.

5 things I learned today
1) Belarus, a country in the former Soviet Union is basically communist. They had an election a couple of years ago, the elected socialist ruler then disregarded the Constitution and suspended all further elections.
2) Everyone that has a tablet PC says that they will never go back to not having a tablet PC. This leads me to believe that if you are looking for a new computer you should consider a tablet PC.
3) Cream of chicken and wild rice soup tastes better without mushrooms than with mushrooms, and a generous dash of pepper and salt greatly improves the flavor. (I think the reason that no mushrooms is good is because the mushroom flavor overpowers the subtitle flavors of the chicken.)
4) While Photoshop can do many things, it has a hard time of completely changing the colors of a specific object while still making that object look realistic. (If you have any hints for me I would greatly appreciate it.)
5) Statistics is a field where you can basically decide how hard you want to work. If you want to take a job that is high stress you will be compensated greatly for it, but if you want an easy going job there are a decent amount of them for less (but still good) pay.
6) *Bonus* I have decided that I am done with stress. And I do not feel the need to put myself in stressful situations. The pay that I get in whatever job I fall into might not be in the 100k range, but I will also be allowed to live a good life. A fair trade if you ask me.
