The Sport of Life- USA:Gold medal. China: Disqualified.

Call me crazy but I just don't care if China beats us in Olympic events. One reason is that they are the "home team" and usually I go easier on the home team. But the main reason that I don't care is because we are competing against people whose sole purpose in living is to win the medal.

I didn't realize how psycho the Chines are about the Olympics until I watched woman's gymnastics last night. One of the Chinese girls had been training since she was three. And no this isn't the; parents get up at 4.30 am and take their daughter to practice kind of Olympic training. The parents of the girl gave her up to a gymnastics school at the age of 3 and now get to see her once a year. And as the announcers said; "She didn't leave kicking and screaming but she was only 3 at the time". Also she wanted to go home at one point but her parents wouldn't let her because if she did well her family would have better standing in Chinese society.

Yeah, so we are playing against human robots that have been training to do one thing, sorta even against their will. So when the Chinese win another gold medal, just remember that you have had more of a life just this morning than they have all of last year.

And there is no way that they are all 16 this year.

A couple of those girls look like 8-10 year olds.

But yeah, I called that China would dominate the games before they started it. The auto-bots will rule!

No way they are all over 16! Even Bella said that!

I agree they sure didn't look 16.And the training regimen is definitely over the top, but really isn't it so for all of them. I've always loved the Olympics, but this time I thought none of them have anything close to a normal life.

yes! America still has the most gold! China has so far won the most total medals. Our Swim teams are Unbelieveable and Micheal Phelps is AWESOME. Not only did he break the record that stood for 36 years(7 gold in one games) by getting 8 gold medals in one olymic games, and set 7 new world records and 1 new olympic record, but the record set 36 years ago was also set by an AMERICAN Mark Spitz. PLUS he has more gold medals overall between 2004 & 2008 than ANYONE has ever gotten. America Rocks! France didnt 'smash' us, not even a little bit! They should watch what they say on world wide TV coverage. And just think, America dominates the gold and our athletes have lives and get to be raised by their loving families. Yeah! I'm proud to be an American.

Chris and I were talking about something just like this the other day. Do we want to be "better" than a country like that? Its like how we are all upset as a country because we are not first in the world for our math scores, etc. which lead to no child left behind. Most of us know that it isn't a fair comparison anyway, however, even if it was, do we really want to push our kids at a younger and younger age to be "smarter and smarter"? We would frown on a country who would raise all their children to be the strongest of all (or the best gymnasts). Everyone weight trains starting at age 3 (or infants as the case may be). Or a country who trains everyone to be the best soldiers in the word form the time they are 3. So why would we push to be the smartest? I tink we value a happy, well balanced life more than that.
