A for Awesome

It is not secret that I do not like V for Vendetta. I have a problem with the tone of the movie, the script of the movie, and the fact that you are rooting for the villain in the movie.
Well guess what "movie" does what V for Vendetta did, but with a double punch of awesome and awesome-r. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
This short film does a much better job of showing why some evil people are good and some good people are evil, and gets me to actually root for the villain. Other pluses are that it is funny, free, and a click away. Watch it.

I'm a huge fan of Alan Moore and V for Vendetta. I thought the film was pretty damn good too.

Categorizing V as a villian is a little misleading, though. And anti-hero, sure. But a villain? I don't think so. The British government and the tenets of facism were the clear villains here in my book. But to each, his own.

I did love Dr. Horrible as well, though. NPH and Fillion are gods!

One of the biggest problems with V for Very bad movie, was that the script was made so that angsty teen boys, throughout the movie, would be cheering and going "yeah" and "that is so cool".

They tried to hard to make a cult film, and in the end, ended up with just a cult of a film.

Did you ever read the comic books? Because I thought it was pretty faithful to Moore's original vision. Which was a protest to Thatcher's particular brand of fascism. Just so happened that it became relevant again due to Bush's policies and the "war against terror".

I read the comics around 1990-91, and I don't think the point then was to actively cheer for V, but the reader was certainly expected to sympathize with him. The film wasn't 100% faithful, and it could have been better. But overall, I thought it was a good job.

But like I said, to each his own.
