ARC

ARC (game)

Arc is a chain reaction game that is somewhat unique. You have stars on circles that you move to make them hit, which starts the chain reaction. Then a squiggle (the arcs?) run around the circle, and if any other stars lie on the path then they too turn into squiggles. And the more squiggles you get going at once the more points you get. I'm not really sure how the points go, cause I was getting 5 or 10 points, then all of a sudden I got 10,000. In any case it is pretty fun, and my high score is 64,403 (in the accumulated mode), which was 11th best overall for the day, so it may be hard to beat it, let me know if you do.

SpokePOV: LED Bike Wheel Images

Riding a bike never seemed cool to me, but that changed tonight when I saw this:
Image hosting by Photobucket
If I could have an LED Mario running and maybe a Goomba chasing him on the spokes of my bike I would be the coolest kid on the block, nay, in the city. And then all the townsfolk would be so impressed that they would give me jewels and gold, but I would turn the offers down, and say: "Your jewels are appreciated townsfolk, but they are not needed, for you see, I am already the coolest in the town, and thus I do not need to wear such flamboyant things such as those shiny stones."
And then I would ride off, and the townsfolk would still be so impressed with my bike that some of the peasants start to cry because of the awesome LED display. Mind you these aren't the womenfolk that start to cry, these are the manly men, that didn't even cry when their dog got ran over by a celery farmer's cart when they were only seven.
And then I would become a legend, and knowing Manhattan, they would name some highway after me.
Man, I bet the townsfolk wishes they were me.

Parking in Portland Maine

Apparently making your own parking permit doesn't work in Portland.

Because that is alot of tickets...

I guess, unless they were homemade tickets as well...
I wonder what the license plate looks like for the car? Painted tinfoil?

Znax

Znax (game)

Znax is a simple game where you have four minutes to make as many squares as possible. All the corners of the squares must be of the same color and you get more points for making bigger squares. I don't really know what it is, but this game is quite addictive, more so that other game of the same type.
If you have a spare 40 minutes go ahead and play this 10 times. (I would say if you have a spare 4 minutes to play this once, but inevitably you'll end up playing this at least 10 times, so I would allot 40 minutes to play.)
My high score is 108,800 so far, I'm sure somebody could beat that after a couple of games.

Coolest Guy at Joe's

On the way up to St. Louis last weekend we (Nicole, Jenette, and I) stopped at Joe's Crab Shack on the east side of Kansas City. While waiting for our table we noticed a guy wearing a top hat going around to different tables making balloon hats and animals for people. He was definitely the coolest guy in the place.

As he was finishing up his rounds around the place he came up to the waiting area and asked if any of us wanted a balloon hat. We didn't, but we got to talking. It turned out that he used to be a bouncer at a place and for some reason he made the carrier change to a balloon guy. I think that you would agree that it was a good change. He seemed like a real nice guy, and he looked like he really enjoyed working with balloons.
Nothing else too eventful happened on Friday. On Saturday we got beat pretty badly by UMSL. After that we headed out to St. Louis Mills and messed around until our next game in the evening. We lost that one too, but not by as much. After that we met up with Lance who had come up for the games, but had found another rink in a parallel universe and went to that one (hopefully he will post about it on his blog).
It was cool to hang out with Lance and the hockey team on Saturday night. On Sunday we played our final game of the year against SLU. We played pretty good, but lost by five in the end. I did manage to score a goal for Lance, since he wanted me to. Because, I can score on command, I am just that cool.
But I'm still not as cool as the guy at Joe's Crab Shack.

Hockey update: Washington Univ. beat UMSL 5 to 4 in overtime in the championship game. (For you that don't follow K-State hockey, UMSL is the only team that we don't really like, so it is good that Wash. U. beat them.)

Super Mario Brothers Race

This is a video of two guys racing to beat Super Mario Brothers the fastest. They both are playing at the same time and it seems like when one guy falls behind he finds a way to make up the couple seconds that he needs to catch up. It takes about six minutes to beat the game which beats my best time of never beating the game. (Well, I haven't tried in a long time, I might be able to do it now... maybe.) Have a look:

At first I thought that this was just a couple of videos cut together, but at the end the lights go up and you can see it is legit.

Cityscape

I'm back from St. Louis, had a good time, and got to see Lance. I'll get a pic or two posted from the trip and I'll give ya more details later. But right now I have found a new game for you to play, it is called Cityscape:

Cityscape (game)

Cityscape is a game like Grow, but this time you are building a city instead a ball of... something. If you like Grow, or SimCity you'll probably enjoy this game. So far my high score is 37. I don't think it would be too hard to beat.

Update:

Worst Weather Ever has commented how to beat the game (get 60/60). Impressive.

Splashback

I am about to head on out to St. Louis for our last weekend of hockey for this season. (I might even get to see Lance while there.) So, to give you all something to do until I get back, I give you Splashback:

Miguzi | Splashback (game)
Splashback is a chain reaction game where you try to clear the board of blobs with a limited amount of moves, but the better you are at getting chain reactions the more moves you get... and you carry over how many moves you have left from level to level. It is delighting addictive. Give it a try.

It's A Box!

In my opinion the Scion xB is one of the ugliest cars on the road today. I have nothing against the shape of cube, but I don't think that a cube should be driving around on the road. Other people buy them though so somebody must like them. And I've always wondered about those people, do they know that the car looks like a happy meal box on wheels? Do they really think it is cool?
On my way up to Kansas City last weekend I got my answer:

(It's license plate says: ITSABOX)

OK, so people that buy Scions at least recognize the shape that their car is. That's one step in the right direction.

Survey

Yesterday I got bored so I filled out a survey that some company had sent to us. This is how it works (I think); you fill out what you want and then they give it to you.

First off I really don't like headaches. Some people may, but I don't really, so I put it a request not to have them anymore.

And then I think we will be getting a puppy. Well, we won't be getting a puppy, because we can't have one here, but we are *so* not getting a kitten that, in comparison, it will seem like we will be getting a puppy. Complicated, I know, so instead of writing down the reasoning on the survey, I just marked that we will be getting a puppy.

I also can't wait to get my new Toyota Prius that I put in a good word for. Also, I think I requested a name change to Mr. F. Awesome, as that is the name that I wrote down. We will see what I get since the survey is already in the mailbox.
I really hope they approve my request for no headaches.

I saw this story on ESPN a couple of days ago, and I have been looking for it on the web. But CBS kees on pulling down any video of it, which is too bad beacuse it is a really good story. Watch it while you can.

fspMusic

fspMusic (game)
Since your legs got all the attention somebody in Japan made a DDR style game for your fingers. The game play is easy; just use the arrow keys and the spacebar. You actually have to go pretty quick to make it past level 7 or so.
If you get good at it let me know, my best so far is 17,195 points.

Hurrah!

Today I got a rough-rough draft done for my masters report. It is no where close to being finished, but at least I have all the parts, and they all just need to be expanded and awesomized. But it is good news on the home front.

On the opposite note today is Mardi Gras. I will celebrate by protecting my brain cells instead of killing them. Tea to the rescue.
