Avalanche to kiss Hershey affiliate goodbye

ESPN.com (article)

As first mentioned by Amber, The Avs are gonna cut ties with the Hershey Bears. They say that one possibility is they will affiliate with the CHL Colorado Eagles. If they do it sounds like the Eagles might jump up to the AHL.

!!! holy crap Blogger fixed their comments. Or their serverload. Eh, it works. Whatever.

Anyway... as far as I'm concerned, I don't mind giving up Hershey. I mean it was cool to have a name like "Hershey" be attached to the Avalanche (although it was a bit corporate, but, eh, thats okay... it wasn't like they sold Hershey bars at the Pepsi Center...), but at the same time, picking up the Eagles would be a pretty good deal. For one... players aren't going to be soooo lagged if they get called up the night before a game. You know as well as I do that Loveland is like, 40 minutes up I-25. Plus this is going to be better able to showcase more local (well, not necessarily local to us, but you know) talent.

I'll miss those Bears, but, Eagles are cool too. And if the Tarantulas stick around, the Eagles moving to the AHL would maybe give them a chance to win a few more games ;)

It is gonna hurt the CHL if the Eagles leave. They were a new team that was actually doing well...
