Best Buy will stop rebates

startribune.com (article)

In response to customer complaints, Best Buy Co. Inc., the world's largest electronics retailer, promised Friday to eliminate mail-in rebates within two years. Best Buy's rivals, including Circuit City Stores and CompUSA, are expected to follow suit.

But it wasn't immediately clear Friday whether Best Buy would pass on the eliminated rebates in the form of lower prices, though several industry watchers said they expect the company to do so.

Well if Best Buy goes to sales, that is fine, but if they just drop doing rebates that would suck. The only reason that i stop by Best Buy most of the time is just to see what i can get real cheap from rebates.

Best Buy's rebates are crap. It's just a way for them to lure people into buying a product at a high price, and then when they send in the rebate, they find some miscule falut with it and don't send the rebate money back.

Topeka's post office almost screwed me out of a rebate once.

True, rebates were a gamble anyways, but Best Buy was good with their rebates, the manufactures were the one's that always screwed me.
