Wind farms pose low risk to birds

BBC NEWS (article)

Migrating birds are unlikely to be seriously affected by offshore wind farms, according to a study.

That’s one less hurdle until we can get this alternative energy source up and running. Now all the hippies have against them are that they are an "eyesore". I wish the hippies would support clean energy instead of being brainwashed by big oil.

The "hippies" do support clean energy, but as long as it doesn't come at the cost of other environmental losses. Wind farms were believed to kill many birds... particularly hawks who were chasing the mice that congregated around the open fields of the wind farms... Many birds of prey are endangered species and it would therefore be illegal to kill them. Remember many of the hippies are the ones saving your planet. Unlike Bush who has set the planet back about 30 years.

Would putting fan like cages over the blades work?

They would be really big cages. Maybe nets... but that may block the wind. How about let the stupid birds kill themselves. The smart ones can reproduce.

Bravehearte -- Free markets save the planet, not "hippies" or excessive government regulation. This is a classic example of how worrying ourselves to death about some small risks creates an even larger risk by not pursuing a viable resource.
