NLL places franchise in Edmonton

NLL.com (article)

The National Lacrosse League announced it has awarded a franchise to the city of Edmonton for the 2006 season. The Edmonton franchise becomes the league’s eleventh team, and will play its home games at Rexall Place, the home arena of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. The 2006 regular season begins in January.

Good deal. The NLL seems to be a very stable league and it looks like they are expanding responsibly. I think that lacrosse as a sport has grown a lot in the past couple of years, and the expansions of the NLL and MLL have shows that is has gained in popularity as a spectator sport.
